about kim
Hi, I’m Kim — a Vietnamese baker who believes that food carries memories.
I was born and raised in a peaceful countryside village in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam, a place filled with rivers, green rice fields, and countless delicious dishes. What I remember most from my childhood is not just the food, but the warmth of the people and the smiles shared around the table.
Like many others, After finishing school at 18, I moved to Ho Chi Minh City to attend university. When I graduated, I began working an office job with regular 8-to-5 hours. The job occasionally took me to different places across Vietnam, allowing me to meet many people and experience new environments. At that time, I thought I would stay on that career path for at least ten years.
But life has its own plans.
One day, I made a decision that surprised even myself: I left my office career and moved to Japan to start a completely new chapter.
Now, I work at a local bakery in Osaka, where I discovered my love for baking.
There is something magical about working with dough. Flour, yeast, sugar, salt, butter, eggs — such simple ingredients. Yet with time, patience, and heat, they transform into golden, fragrant loaves of bread. The smell of freshly baked bread still fascinates me every single day.
Because of that, I never stop learning. I’m especially curious about the techniques and the science behind baking — understanding how ingredients interact and why certain methods work.
Living abroad has also taught me another important skill: cooking for myself. When homesickness appears, I often cook Vietnamese dishes that remind me of home. Even though there are many Vietnamese restaurants in Japan, the flavors never quite match the memories from my childhood kitchen.
Being far from home made me realize just how deeply Vietnamese cuisine is a part of who I am.
At the same time, living in another country opened my eyes to new flavors and cultures. I’ve grown curious about different cuisines and the stories behind them — why dishes are made the way they are, and how they connect to people’s lives.
To me, food is never just nourishment.
It carries culture, memories, and emotion.
This website is my little “home” on the internet — a place where I share my baking recipes, cooking experiments, food discoveries, and travel experiences.
Whether I’m baking bread in Japan or exploring the flavors of Vietnam in the future, this space will always be about one thing:
the stories that food brings into our lives.
